About This Site
format-factory.net is an independent reference for Format Factory — the free Windows media converter. We are not the developer, and this is not the official site.
Format Factory is developed by Free Time Software Technology Co., Ltd., whose own product page is pcfreetime.com. This site has no connection to them — it exists because the search demand around Format Factory is large, the official site is thin and slow, and a lot of what's written about the app elsewhere is out of date or simply wrong.
How we check what we publish
Every factual claim on this site is meant to be traceable to one of three places: the developer's own site and changelog, the developer's own legal text, or our own hands-on testing of the installed application. Where those sources disagree — the language count is a good example, where the website says 62, Wikipedia says 66 and the app itself says 70 — we say so and cite each one.
We do
- Download and install the current build ourselves, then run real conversions before writing about them.
- Read the developer's own legal text (EULA, Privacy Policy) and quote it directly rather than paraphrasing.
- Verify download links, file sizes and version numbers against the developer's own servers.
- Say plainly when we haven't tested something, and mark it as unverified rather than guessing.
We don't
- Invent ratings, reviews, download counts or prices.
- Host the installer ourselves or wrap it in our own downloader — every download link points at the developer.
- Claim affiliation with, or endorsement by, the developer.
- Publish AI-generated filler to pad pages out.
Where our information comes from
- The developer's site and changelog — pcfreetime.com/formatfactory, read from the earliest entries through the current 5.22.0.0 release.
- The application itself — installed on a real 64-bit Windows machine, with menus, the Options and Modules dialogs, the About box and a full end-to-end conversion all checked by hand.
- The developer's EULA and Privacy Policy — quoted verbatim on our safety page rather than summarised.
- Public reference sources such as Wikipedia, used only for historical context and always cross-checked against the two primary sources above.
Pages carry the software version they were checked against (5.22.0.0, released 2026-03-11). When a new Format Factory version ships, the affected pages are re-checked before the version number here changes.
Reaching us
Found something out of date, or a claim that doesn't hold up? Let us know.
For support with the software itself, the developer lists [email protected] (shown in the app's language dialog). We can't help with your specific conversion — see our troubleshooting guide first.
