Format Factory for Windows 11 (Download & Compatibility)
Format Factory is fully compatible with Windows 11 today. That wasn't always true, and it's worth explaining what changed rather than glossing over it.
Is it fully compatible? Yes, since v5.8.1
Windows 11 launched in October 2021, and Format Factory hit a real, documented incompatibility with it at first. The developer shipped an explicit fix in version 5.8.1 (August 2021), and every release since — including the current 5.22.0.0 — has been tested against Windows 11. If you're running any recent build, there's nothing extra to configure.
One requirement carries over from the general 64-bit rule: since version 5.0.0 (February 2020), Format Factory only ships as a 64-bit application. Windows 11 itself is 64-bit only for every edition Microsoft distributes, so this isn't a practical limitation for Windows 11 users the way it can be on older Windows 10 or 7 installs.

64-bit offline installer, no separate download needed
The FFSetup5.22.0.0.exe file linked above is a complete, self-contained offline installer — you don't need a separate “offline installer” build or an internet connection to complete setup once it's downloaded. An internet connection is only needed afterward, for optional module downloads like the DVD ripper.
Windows 11's SmartScreen and Defender, explained
Windows 11 tightened its default security posture compared to earlier versions, so it's worth knowing what to expect the first time you run the installer. SmartScreen — the blue "Windows protected your PC" screen — appears for any executable that hasn't yet built up a large reputation history with Microsoft, regardless of publisher; it's not a verdict specific to Format Factory, and clicking "More info" then "Run anyway" is the standard, expected way past it for legitimate software.
Windows Defender is a separate layer. Common Windows 11 questions
Is Format Factory in the Microsoft Store?
No — the only distribution channel we could confirm is the developer's own site. There's no Microsoft Store listing to check for updates or verify authenticity against, which makes downloading directly from the official link on our download page the more important safeguard on Windows 11.
Does it support Windows 11's ARM edition?
We could not confirm native ARM64 support in our own testing — the build we tested targets standard x64 Windows. If you're on a Windows 11 ARM device (like a Surface Pro X-class machine), test carefully via emulation before relying on it for anything important.
Do I need to change any Windows 11 settings first?
No special configuration is required — no need to disable Core Isolation, Smart App Control, or any other Windows 11 security feature to install or run Format Factory normally in our testing.
If you just upgraded to Windows 11
An in-place upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 generally preserves an existing Format Factory installation without requiring reinstallation — Windows upgrades typically keep third-party desktop applications intact. If anything behaves unexpectedly after upgrading (a setting reset, a missing file association), reinstalling with the current 5.22.0.0 installer over the existing install is a quick, non-destructive way to refresh it for the new OS.
Does TPM 2.0 affect Format Factory?
No — TPM 2.0 is a hardware security requirement Windows 11 itself enforces at the OS installation level, and it has no bearing on individual desktop applications like Format Factory once Windows 11 is already running. If your PC met Windows 11's requirements to install the OS in the first place, there's nothing further to check on the TPM front before installing this or any other ordinary desktop software.

If you're upgrading hardware alongside Windows 11
Windows 11's hardware requirements often coincide with a genuine hardware upgrade for many users — new CPU, new GPU, or both. That's actually good news for conversion speed specifically: newer Intel, AMD, and NVIDIA hardware generally supports more of the modern codecs (VVC/H.266, AV1) the current Format Factory build can take advantage of, compared to older Windows 7 or 10-era hardware.
